93rd OVC Champs
Updated: Aug 10, 2021
Senior 1:
A very unusual OVC was held this last weekend at Lakeside. The only teams were Triton and Lakeside so the time between events was extremely short. However, some of the Senior 1 swimmers went best times and Jack Westfall and Jett Meffert qualified for State Champs!
Jack Westfall- State cut in the 100, 200 breast, 100 back, and 50 free.
Jett Meffert- 200 fly state cut and best times in the 400 free and 100 IM.
Evan Barsch- Best time 100 fly
Ian Bierle: Best times in the 200 & 400 IM and 200 Back
Luke Christensen: Best time in the 100 & 400 free
Drew Collis: Best time in the 100 free
Sarah C. Dawson: Best time 200 IM
Greg Post: Best time in 100 free
We are looking forward to a great state meet!

Larkin McCubbin = 800 FR State Cut
Senior II - Swimmer of the Meet:
Colin Cavnor - for getting the state cut in the 100 FL and breaking the minute for the first time in the 100 FR in huge fashion going 58.99!
The OVC / Last Chance Meet gave us a little bit of everything. Chilly tempratures transitioning to hot and muggy, dry weather changing to rain, and even a thunderstorm delay. But, the Senior II and Senior III groups overcame that adversity, remained focused, a kept putting their energy into swimming as fast as they could. I am so happy with how they all handled themselves.

Kamora Howard
100% Best Times:
Austin Hundley

Karter Graves - for getting 100% best times and his first State Cut (100 BR - 1:28.00)

Silver:
What a great weekend for all of silver swimmers this last weekend! For mostly everyone's first time swimming at the lake and dealing with the walls for turns and finishes they all did great! Seeing them get up and being excited for this meet was great to see for our second to last meet!
We had 2 new swimmers achieve State times! Those swimmers are Jamie Lewis in the 50 breast and Carter Schardein in the 100 free.
This long course season was a great season overall. I am excited to see how we do at State Champs and moving forward into the short course season!
Bronze & Pre-Comp:
We survived swimming in the Lake! Warm-ups on Friday were interesting as the swimmers adjusted to the different pool and looking at the bottom of the rock quarry. Saturday, we had some first-time swimmers, so we had many of the same reactions to the pool. They all did a great job handling the different pool and swam well.
Congratulations to our new KY State qualifiers. Collin Liu in the 10 & Under 100 Breast, and Zackary Vlahos (who is 7) in the 10 & Under 100 Breast and 100 Fly!
This meet was a great end of the season meet for most of the Bronze and Pre-Comp swimmers. We had 1st long course meet for some, 1st time swimming events for many and major time drops for almost everyone.
Going 6 events and 6 best times, Vera Gravil, Collin Liu, Zackary Vlahos. Dropping over 10 seconds in events Charlie Rose Dicken, Henry Dicken, Evie Flowers, Vera Gravil, Claire Liu, Collin Liu, and Eliana Saing. Those who dropped more than 5 seconds in events Madison Couch, Zackary Vlahos. Remember that these time drops are mostly in 50 and 100’s! That is some major improvement!
I am incredibly happy with the summer season of 2021! Way to go Bronze and Pre-Comp swimmers!
